Many eye conditions in horses can lead to blindness or even loss of the eye. Therefore, as soon as possible in the seek veterinary advice at the first signs of an eye condition. These include swelling of the eye and surrounding area, redness of the conjunctiva, and painful squeezing of the eyelids. Warning signs include corneal opacities, as well as injuries to the eye and eyelids. Abnormal growths (tumours) on the eye should also not be underestimated.

Our practice is particularly well-equipped and trained for the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.

We are Member of Working Group on Ophthalmology of the German Veterinary Medical Association (DVG AG Equine Ophthalmology), the only association of equine eye specialists in Germany. The group is in constant exchange with international experts researching the best possible therapies for equine eye diseases.

Through the possibility of direct and Indirect ophthalmoscopy, the Slit lampsand Ultrasound scan From the eye in the stable, we can carry out comprehensive diagnostics and rapid, and above all, targeted therapy on site. This frequently prevents chronic, therapy-intensive consequences and allows the horse swift relief.

We are also happy to provide post-operative care for horses with eye conditions, in close consultation with the treating veterinary clinic.
