Next to Follicle tracking, Artificial insemination Fresh sperm, Swab sample collection and Pregnancy examinations always include advice on breeding management, as well as on questions concerning the deworming, vaccination and feeding of mares and foals.
In cases of mares with reproductive problems, uterine biopsy (tissue sample from the uterus) is an important diagnostic tool. Uterine flushes can be used on-site for these mares, as well as for mares with uterine infections. Furthermore, I manage difficult births, retained placentas and birth injuries. For sick foals, I provide care, including preparing for any necessary transport to a clinic.
I recommend that the natural immune defence of newborn foals be checked by a vet no later than twelve hours after birth. To do this, I immediately check the foal's colostrum and/or blood for antibodies. The afterbirth should always be stored separately and also examined by a vet. In the case of weak foals, immediate care for the foal is absolutely indicated.
