{"id":336,"date":"2022-01-17T14:52:25","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T13:52:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pferdepraxis-roedig.de\/?page_id=336"},"modified":"2024-09-19T21:33:27","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T19:33:27","slug":"vaccination-in-horses","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pferdepraxis-roedig.de\/en\/impfung-beim-pferd","title":{"rendered":"Vaccination in horses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An injection in a horse is the <strong>only<\/strong> effective prophylactic measure to protect against diseases and maintain your horse's health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaccination, in the sense of immunisation, is one of the oldest medical and at the same time most successful prophylactic measures to <strong>Infections<\/strong> and <strong>Illnesses<\/strong> <strong>to prevent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A vaccination is intended to prevent your horse partly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>tedious<strong>Flu<\/strong>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>life-threatening<strong>Equine Herpesvirus<\/strong>, <strong>West Nile Virus<\/strong>) or potentially<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>resulting in death<strong>Tetanus<\/strong>, <strong>Rabies<\/strong> ill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For competition horses, regular (every 6 months) vaccination against influenza is mandatory. Preferred start of primary immunisation in spring before the mosquito season.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Booster vaccination<\/strong><\/td><td>Booster vaccinations at intervals of 2 years<\/td><td>Booster vaccinations at 6-month intervals*<\/td><td>Booster vaccinations every 6 months<\/td><td>Booster vaccination every 12 months<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">For horses kept in stable herds with infrequent changes of horses and little contact with horses from other herds, a vaccination interval of 12 months may be sufficient under certain circumstances.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mandatory influenza vaccination for competition horses according to LPO<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Competition horses<\/strong> Does the FN (German Equestrian Federation) mandate a vaccination in Germany against <strong>Flu <\/strong>before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following vaccination schedule is mandatory for tournament horses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Influenza vaccinations for competition horses according to LPO:<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Primary immunisation<\/strong><\/td><td>Consists of three vaccinations:<br>Second vaccination at least 28 and at most 70 days after the first vaccination<br>Third vaccination a maximum of 6 months + 21 days after the second vaccination<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Booster vaccination<\/strong><\/td><td>Booster vaccinations at intervals of a maximum of 6 months + 21 days<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All horses that have not yet been vaccinated against <strong>Flu <\/strong>have been vaccinated, with a different interval between vaccinations than 6 months plus 21 days, require before starting a tournament a <strong>primary immunisation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One <strong>Primary immunisation<\/strong> is considered complete when the first two vaccinations are given at an interval of 28-70 days AND a further 14 days have passed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In horses, which <strong>Regularly vaccinated<\/strong> are, must <strong>7 days<\/strong> between the last vaccination and the start of the next tournament.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please be sure to include these time intervals in your tournament season planning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Herpes vaccine<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update<\/strong>The mandatory vaccination for tournament horses of the FN has been lifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Vaccinations against Herpes:<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Primary immunisation<\/strong><\/td><td>Consists of three vaccinations:<br>Second vaccination at least 28 and at most 42 days after the first vaccination<br>Third vaccination a maximum of 6 months + 21 days after the second vaccination<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Booster vaccination<\/strong><\/td><td>Booster vaccinations at intervals of a maximum of 6 months + 21 days<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The remaining provisions for primary immunisation apply as with the influenza vaccination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have any questions or requests regarding horse vaccinations? <a href=\"https:\/\/pferdepraxis-roedig.de\/en\/contact\/\">Contact <\/a>See us!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eine Impfung beim Pferd ist die einzige wirksame prophylaktische Ma\u00dfnahme um vor Krankheiten zu sch\u00fctzen und die Gesundheit Ihres Pferdes zu erhalten.
